Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner


These guys thought the lure was their breakfast. Instead, they will be my lunch and dinner.

Now where's the tartar sauce?

And didn't we get you some tartar sauce at the Walmart back in Cocoa?

Spanish Mackerel and Largemouth Bass. Just cooked them up. I'm about to weigh anchor and do a few miles to an anchorage I found on Cruisers' Net. I have a bridge to go through on the way there. Only about five miles to go though.

Used up all the tartar sauce. I've got mayo and relish aboard, so I'll whip up some more.

Hey wait a second - I know that you're in the ICW and those fishy specimens are ocean swimmers - at the Spanish Mackerel. What gives - did you get them when passing through an inlet?

No matter where they're from - they're obviously heading for your frying pan!

Ross, this is the third Spanish Mackerel I've caught in brackish water. One in the Upper Chesapeake, another in the Indian River, and this one in a canal.

Hard to tell when they're on the line. They don't fight much, but bleed a lot flapping about the cockpit.

I'm too slow in posting - the fish are history.

I don't think that the lower one is a largemouth bass because it doesn't look like one and Largemouth Bass are (so far as I know) freshwater only.

I'm sure that one of your readers will be able ID it.

I've caught the other fish before too. In another canal. Someone IDed the fish as a Spanish Mackerel, but of course it isn't.

I have a florida fish ID booklet, and the closest thing it appears to be is a bass. The water in this canal is a dirty brown. Looks like it might be habitat for a variety of fish.

OK, getting ready to weigh anchor. Tide has turned in my favor. The bridge only opens on the half hour, so I'll probably have to wait for it.
