The drawing was one of two welcome home gifts for me. The other was a sweatshirt from Amy's new school. I wore her old school's sweatshirt almost constantly during past winters. It was pretty warm and comfy. But Amy says it would be a faux pas to wear it here.
It feels really weird to be sitting on a couch in a house miles from water. There's been very few days in the last year that I haven't been on the boat and water.
I told Amy that I'm going to spend at least a couple days vegging on the couch watching tv (olympics et al). It is nice that with the boat in port, the apartment rented out, and me moved to Richmond, I don't have any pressing responsibilities.
You guys are hilarioous - I can just see you sitting across the room from one another and communicating via blog entries!
Scott - it sounds like you're having a real summer vacation and much deserved I'm sure.
I've been laid up with some health issues the past 5 weeks (!) but am planning on being back to normal in time to the families annual beach trip (Sept 16) in which we rent a house at Wrightsville. I really love that area and plan on having several meals at the Dockside.
That picture is breathtaking, I love it. Amy is surely multitalented, for sure. When I took mechanical drawing in HS I could not draw free hand for crap. I think the teacher thought I was faking it, it was so bad. So I have a great appreciation for someone that can produce art. It is so good it looks photorealistic.
Can Amy sketch from a picture, or does she have to be at the actual place the scene is? I think if you turned Amy loose at a marina, doing sketches, you could earn enough funds to really trick out split decision. I certainly would pay someone to sketch a portrait of our gem like that.
Amy may have missed her true calling. Glad you are enjoying your time as a landlubber.
Lou, Amy can draw from imagination, but I think she is out of practice. I've had a spooky picture she drew in high school hanging on my wall for years. It's a barren tree with the branches terminating as hands. The hands are all distorted and grasping. She tells me it was an exercise to practice drawing hands, but the effect is pretty spooky.
Ross, occasionally we actually speak to each other. But I prefer the blogging over oral discourse.

I like it! There is a 'Winslow Homer in the Bahamas' look about it that's great.
